Main Research Activities

This Ph.D. focuses on the high-voltage spinel LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 (LNMO) used as positive electrode material for Li-ion batteries. Our goal is to correlate the structural information to electrochemical performance at the primary particle scale. Thus, various LNMO samples presenting different morphologies will be synthesized and characterized by diffraction (X-ray and neutrons) and spectroscopy techniques (NMR, Raman), and X-ray absorption spectroscopy at large-scale facilities. The (de)lithiation mechanisms will be studied by scanning electron microscopy coupled with precession (Astar System, 4D-STEM), providing information on the local crystalline structure with spatial resolution.
